Great Winter...

I have been busy doing different things so I have not done many, if any reports. Great winter as we all know, just saw on tv that the high on Sunday is going to be 49, so I guess we got some cold stuff to come.

Gulps (and anything else) worked great Dec and most of Jan, but lately mostly natural baits seem to do best. I have used crab, mullet and mud minnows lately, all of which do pretty good around structure. One bait seems to be really good…thumb nail size piece of mullet on a 5/0 or 6/0 Gamakatsu Circle hook and then top it off with a big mud minnow…just seems to draw a more dramtic bite.

Three things stand out about this season…more boat traffic and smaller/less schools on the flats. And big, big, big redfish. The last few trips (with natural bait) we have landed at least one, if not more, fish over 30 inches each trip. Largest was 35 3/4 inches last Tuesday. Lots of nice 31 to 33 inch fish for weeks now.

Good luck to everyone in the coming few weeks…I will be pretty busy working on job #3 until the middle of March, but have some afternoons open if anyone wants a charter…special price is $270 (1 or 2 anglers) through March, but days are very limited.

Good info. Thanks.

Last jan-feb was brutal.

What is job #3?

Do you guide any around Cape Romain…?

Sorry Redstripe, don’t get up that way. Have a few spots just south of Gerris Landing, but things have got to be bad for me to go up there.
