Green fuel?

I just changed my fuel-water seperate for the first time on my used boat and the fuel in the old container was green. Is that normal? I wouldn’t expect that.

It’s a 2-stroke engine could oil be going into the fuel? Anything I need to be concerned about?

So far the engine has been slow to turn on but runs great at high speed.

Not sure if the picture helps

Do you premix the oil? That’s what it looks like. Or is the separator after the oil tank?

The oil is right in the engine so it shouldn’t be mixed until it’s past the seporator

Could it be the primer check valve and oil is getting in?

could the mixed gas be siphoning out of the engine into the separator after the boat has been sitting.

I put some sta-bil in awhile ago but only once and that was atleast 2 two tanks ago. Do you think that could still be it? I rarely let the tank go below 1/4.

I could believe the oil-fuel mixture getting back in. Is there a way to test the valve in the primer bulb?

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Sta-bil was going to be my guess.

that could be what is causing the hard start

Thanks Chris how would I stop that?

Valve in the primer bulb or something in the engine?

If you add Stabil to your gas it will turn the gas a greenish color.

what motor?

It’s a 90hp 2-stroke Mercury

I found this piece to replace the check valve http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_details.php?pnum=MER22-818994++1

I’m also thinking I should change out the check valve in the primer bulb or just replace the primer bulb

Does that all make sense?

I had some that looked just like it. It was premixed and had Stabil in it. I burned all ~80 gallons through a carbed 200 Mariner just fine. Just smoked a little more than necessary since it was burning extra oil.
