Green River, Utah

Fished the Green River & Flaming Gorge Res. last week out in Utah…scenery & wildlife is top notch…caught loads of trout on the Green…no major hatches going on. Nymphing was off the charts and the hopper fishing was decent…fished the last day with hopper only and had some of my best fish. The reservoir up there is insane for sight fishing the Carp. Never targeted them on the fly but will do it again without a doubt…biggest landed was 15-20 lbs but I saw some well over 30. They are agressive at times and will get halfway into your backing…if not more…we used 8wts for the Carp.

Wildlife is everywhere…herds of Antelope, Mule Deer, Moose, Elk…would love to do a combo hunt & fish trip next time.

Highly recommend that area of Utah…about 4 hrs East of Salt Lake.

I fished the Green two years ago. What section of the river did you fish? We were on the A section and did well on dry flies, didn’t even nymph it.

There is no normal life, there’s just life.

Warms my heart. Hope to see some more of those pics when we meet up for a beer. Have had many a great day fishing that river.

We fished the B&C on a drift boat & waded the A. No real hatches going on so the dry fly fishing was marginal…next trip out there will be during a good hatch…
