Played hooky from work and went to the ledge with my good friend Garrett. After Passing a 43ft. yacht aground at the jetties we push on to the ledge with a glassy sea at 34 MPH. (Looks like he missed the Chanel in dynamite hole.)
Armed with a box cigar minnows, a box of squid, a box of bud and a box of lite, we set out to pull up some meat. Pulling up to the spot we could hear the action at 226 hole but we were dedicated.
First drop at 7:15 slam stuck in the rocks, but I could feel some head shakes. It must be a grouper? Fourth drop slam. Rocked and broke off again.
And yet again slam Garret is rocked. 4 rigs in 20 minutes. Now I’m getting pissed.
So I pop a cold one for breakfast slap on a stogie minnow and drop again.
This time I got one off the bottom about 10 cranks and slam, a freight train hit me from nowhere peeling against a locked down drag. The line sounded like a G string on a banjo.
15 minutes worth of tug of war and the line went slack. Reeled up a 14 inch porgie that looked like he had been scaled and fined. 50# test is obviously not worthy of that hole.
Mr. grouper did not want to play any more after that so caught our limit and headed on to hit some other spots.
Finished the day with:
6 Porgies
1 AJ
12 BSB
1 B-liner
1 wrasse
3 sharp nose
1 turtle
1 sun fish
1 school of blue runners
If your not fishin your not livin!
