Grouper dropping and sword attempt

Late report. Went out on the 12th with Patrick and his lovely wife Hannah for some grouper and swordfish (fingers crossed). We hit the last channel marker and loaded up on blue runners and we were off to the ledge. The grouper bite was on fire, as other posts have already attested. We could have caught twice as many but some were just too big for our tackle. I never thought 80lb power pro wouldn’t be enough. As the sun set we did a quick high speed wahoo troll to where we wanted to start our drift for the night. Squid down all night and we had some terrific hits all though the night but the only one we managed to get to the boat was a big hammer head that put up an hour and a half fight. Running low on ice by morning and the fish box was already full of grouper so we headed back in.

Can someone please tell me if this is a scamp or a yellow mouth?

Great Pics!!! Thanks for the update!

Jordan-That’s a scamp. Long filaments on top and bottom of tail are a dead giveaway. Yellowmouth will have equal filaments, you can run a line along their edge, none are long.

going back soon to get em. off work till it closes.(gonna have to get another deep freezer)
