Since I had to take tuesday off and the weather was nice I decided it was time to actually target some groupa. Pulled together a great crew who were up to experiment and headed out around 6:00. First stop at the edisto buoy for bait then a highish speed troll to the ledge which yielded one large cuda and a cutoff. trolled for an hour or so then decided it was time to drop. First two fish on the boat were nice scamps.
Then this beast, weighed out at 90 lbs before we tossed him back.
Finished the day shy of our limit but way ahead of any of our previous grouper attempts. Can’t wait for friday!!

most people don’t eat them. however, its on the menu tonight at HUSK. that, i’d try.
And I am sure that Sean Brock picked all the worms out of it…No thank you! If I want to eat AJ, I will go to Hymans and eat crap. It is sad that Husk will buy a cheap garbage fish then charge $30+ a plate to tourists that don’t know any better.

“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”
If you want a good chuckle ask the waiter at HUSK if the AJ is local and if so how they get all the worms out! My sister in law did that at very posh NY restaurant and we got $#!% service the rest of the evening!
The Amberjack from the gulf taste as good or better than the ARS. I will keep the next one I catch here so I can decide this for myself. From what I have seen, just dont clean the tail meat, and don’t keep em over 30 pounds.
