gtown bay.. sharks. help?

is their anyplace i can catch a few bonnets inside the jetty’s? i dont want to run thru jones creek or no mans to get to north jetty or run out to the nun and anchor up.

i would like to stay inside the lighthouse and get on some 3ft-5ft bt’s or scallop/bonnet hammers.

i have debated trying to anchor up around the lighthouse and see if i can chum them in on an outgoing tide. but would rather be able to set up without chum. i have caught trout, reds, flounder and about everything else. i just want to get on a few shark before season is over.

i have 50w’s but would rather stay on light spinning gear and have some fun.

Running Jones Creek shouldn’t be an issue. It’s navigable at low tide. I have caaught nice sharks at the mouth of North Santee inlet.

There is plenty of Bonnets at the light house. We’ve caught nice ones around the bouy between the light house and the northern rocks. Get on the dropoff.

are you talking about the rive/sea bouy…

i have yet to catch any shark inside the jetty/rocks.

on the days the jetty’s are rough id like to be able to have some fun on light tackle with toothy critters. stay inside the lighthouse

seems the current is so fst its hard to kep bait down and have caught verry little except on a changing tide.

1.The shell banks are loaded with them. 6-10’ water 1/2 crab, shouldn’t take long. You’ll have better luck at the slack tides.
2.The oyster bars along the mouth of mother norton aren’t a bad option.
Caught a few scalloped heads in the shipping channel out front of the little barn a month ago.
3.There are a couple of deep holes in muddy bay that hold them as well. Try the N tip of big marsh.
Good luck please catch them all

thx 4 the tips.

just ordered 100 7/0 4x thick circle hooks with berkly 7strand duratest coated cable. thinking of trying a shark run next week. crimp 10 or so hooks up and see what i can do.

I got one at the tip of the jetties yesterday. It was the biggest bonnethead I have ever hooked. 40 plus inches, and had to be pushing 15-20 lbs. I was going to keep him because I hear they are good to eat, but he chomped through the leader right at the boat. On another note, the water is as clean and as pretty as you will ever get in WB. Also was marking a ton of stuff all through the water column. From the tip of the north jetty to the middle of the channel. I think that’s where the shrimp are. We got some stud whiting drifting in there. Also got half a cooler of shrimp. Most were small, but some nice mediums were mixed in. I think we could have coolered out, but but chose to slay redfish during the falling tide.

nice. i almost put in today but ended up working on a friends ac unit.

with the rain the next 2 days odds are it wont be till thursday or friday i can get out. but all my stuff should be in and ready to fish.
