Got out fished on spottails by my pastor who was using gulp crab, while I was using live shrimp! Glad I didn’t put any bets on it!
I know some folks swear by them but, I have had minimal success with them myself.

well he is a pastor
When I first started fishing in the saltwater, Gulp products made up the majority of my artificial offerings and they produced more than they didn’t. I’ve since broadened my artificial offering but Gulp is always in the boat. It just plain works.
One word of caution though. Make sure you wash your hands THOROUGHLY before eating the Publix chicken fingers you brought along on the boat for lunch. If you don’t, well, let’s just say you better have quick access to a secluded island and plenty of TP. Oh, and don’t think you’re going to be good to go after the first explosive event. I mean uh, at least that’s what a friend told me.

I am curious if you switched to a Gulp Shrimp in the same color what would have happened. The shrimp pattern and smaller profile plastics have been good to me lately. I was out Wednesday and it was a color issue with the stained water. I used the TRD in the deal and nothing. Water was stained and dark and I switched the pumpkin green goby and pumpkin green and started landing fish.
Glad to hear the fish are biting. Tight lines.

Did he put down his net on the left side of the boat?

I typically fish Gulp on a jig head or a weighted hook. I’ll fish the jerk shads weightless sometimes. I have fished certain Gulp baits under a popping cork but I never tie myself down to one or two presentations. Just depends on the situation.

LOL:smiley: Thanks for the laugh. That Gulp juice is some bad stuff.
I started with electric chicken after being an avid troller bait fisherman back in the 90s.
All inshore n inlet and Pawleys. Did ok used opening night saltwater assasin when water cleared out n the fall.
Gulp by far out fished them for redfish and flounder when I switched.
I tie a 1/4oz saltwater candy STRAIGHT to power pro 20 braid using the 3 inch gulp shrimp.
Depending on water color I’ll use copper penny, salt n peppa, molting or white and tear me up.
When I find the trout I’ll switch back to opening night saltwater assasin shad. There cheaper and the trout don’t seem to mind.
If I am targeting flounder with gulp I might switch to a 4 inch which seems to turn the bigger fish on.
I am not sure but if you’ve seen rock or mantis shrimp on the bottom of a creek I think that is what they resemble.
I’ve never caught a bite on gulp crabs so I think that pastor is RIGHT with god.
My best days are when I am as well.
Hope this helps and maybe Berkeley can send me some more Gulp shrimp.

The juice works. It’s not even debatable.

Gray and black fished on a #1 circle hook behind a small shot about 18" up and letting the tide carry it under the blowdowns! Nice size slots. The beat catch he ever made was when he baptised me 11 years ago!
