I never minded carrying extra for the Pig! It was heavy, but it came in worth it, when needed! A 14, was what we trained with in basic and then we went to 16’s in Infantry! Always liked a 14!

Ammo weight was a large part/reason for transitioning to the 16 , grunts could hump 3-4 times the amount of ammo… Also the advent
of the 3 round burst of the 16 was an ammo saver too.:sunglasses:

Amen I’ll take the 7.62 and hump the ammo any day over that chickenshat M16. When needed, there ain’t no comparison.
