Gunsmith?

Anybody know of a good gunsmith in the Florence area?
(besides Darlington gun works)

Southland Guns, they’ve done some work for me.

What are you looking to have done?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Fludds …??

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

I have an 870 that won’t fire and 2 rifles that need trigger jobs

What kind of rifles? Most of them are easy enough to do yourself by buying a Timney and dropping it in for $125.00 or so. Cheaper than paying most Smith’s to do the job. Unless the gun is something like a Ruger #1.

Is the 870 not striking at all or just lightly? You can buy replacement springs and firing pins through Brownells and Midway for those guns pretty cheap then Youtube a video on how to break the bolt down and do the replacement yourself.

There’s a few gunsmiths around but if you are looking for a trigger job, I would use Jim Kelly at Darlington or Ron Cox in Greenville. If you choose Ron Cox, be prepared to wait, I just got a rifle back from being cut down and it took him 4 months to get to it.

Thanks for all the info

Salty appreciate the guidance but ill be honest I would be ahead of the game to get a $5/hr job on the side and pay the gunsmith. I tend to break small mechanical things not fix them! Not much patience here.:sunglasses: rifles are a sav, rem 700, and an Abolt

The Savage and Remington are simple drop in replacements. I can help you with the if you want. I’ve never done an A-Bolt but they can’t be that hard. The best thing I ever did for my 700 was to put a Timney in it. In fact I just ordered another one for my project gun to install in the next few weeks. Whatever you do, DO NOT use that jackleg out at 707 Guns, those guys are butchers.
