gut wrench 3/1/08

Originaly plan was hit the ledge(EB 226 area)`and go deep trolling for more wahoo, well read the weather and thought we could get there and then i could deal with the ride home, well mother nature just wasn’t going to let that happen,so after 17-20 miles of trying in the dark we had to go to plan b,turn farther south and hit some bottom spots in 80-90 ft and see what we could do…

we ended up marking some new spots but it was real tough getting anchored on them in the conditions we had,so went back to old faithful and the screen lit up as always, slowly picked our way thru small BSB’s and kept 10-15 13-15 inches and a handful of b-liners,had a couple of grouper bites but got rocked,a little challenging when the boat moves up/down and round /round so much to get them out of the rocks.

just glad we got some meat for the crew.not what we wanted but…maybe next weekend.

everything was caught on squid(glad i grabbed those 2 boxes)and conditions were tough to say the least, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…

I just want to apologize to the crew,i blew this one big time…

i just had visions of wahoo in my head…in the end i was a yahoo:smiley:

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up and loudly proclaiming, “WOW! What a ride!”

It is easy to get tunnel(wahoo) vision. Atleast you were smart enough to have plan B. Your crew should be appreciative, they were out fishing atleast. Any day you get out and in safely is a good day. The fish are a benefit.IMO.

Wish we could have gotten in touch with y’all out there.

Glad you salvaged the trip and kept everybody safe.

Lone Ranger, with the days you are picking, I think you need a bigger boat. Something in the 75-100’ range might meet your needs!

Sounds like you been working for whitey way too long... That still leaves you with 104 saturdays and sundays in a calendar year. How many sick days and vacation do you get? Company holidays? Now we are getting somewhere. Just kidding though.
