Gut Wrench 3/9/08

Didn’t know what to expect after saturdays blow, but we headed out anyway even after 2 of the crew bailed.Broke the jetties around 7:35 not bad looking for the first 15 miles, seas definately were big but it was a following swell, around 90-100 ft they got a little bigger and confused but were spreading out.Could not get a good sst shot so we just went with the swell which put us at the SWB’s,i knew on the 6th there was some real hot water there but i figured it was gone and it was,put lines in and had a 10 line spread and 2 teasers running in 4-6 footers with a 10-15 knot wind…

wanted to head south but with the ocean the way it was i didn’t want to face that ride home so we went north and out, went to the hole and still no warm water headed out towards bubble rock and finally the temp starts to change but we are running out of time, anyway it finally gets to 66.8 on the screen which should really be about 68-69(temp sensor is off) doesn’t matter never had a knock down or saw any life at all…the seas laid down and we headed in at 25 mph till we got to 100 ft then we picked it up to 35,hit the rocks right at dark…anyone fishing today should have 1 nice ocean…

No fish, but we still got out and tried some new stuff,i also found out my comfort level with big seas(yes there was a few tense moments)but the boat did awesome…

wish i could take the week off but until next weekend, you all catch’em up…
