nothing reel spectacular,kept 6 mahi,lost something big early on,pulled the hook…
had a good time with some of my customers from my real business and a few of my normal crew…
Yes it got rough but due to having XM weather and radar, and knowing what was coming we had a uneventful rough ride in…
i made sure all day my angle of attack would put us in the trough if/when it blew up,that means i did not go south or very far north,my return heading was 304 degrees, which let us cruise in at 30 mph then drop down to 25mph once we hit the shipping channel, wind was honking and the lighting was cracking…now if we would have had any mechanical failure the outcome would have been different, but if we actually could predict that we all would be rich…
my advice to everyone if you do not have XM or sirius weather you need to think long and hard, this will be the 3rd time in a year it saved us or helped us fish longer by going around/thru a thunderstorm.
by the way there was no hot/special color or position,it started off with short riggers/flat line hits but we had the way back hit too…
when it was on it was quick then died then fired up as we were trying to pull lines(pressure drop)…/
sorry to hear so many had problems,i hope all return in good shape…
till next weekend…
