we left at 4:38 am,a little late but we understood,greeng13 had to finish his work at home and was running behind,
as were heading out thru the jetties,i see alot of returning boats, that ain’t a good sign,as we get to the entrance the swells are big and confused(nice)…i am watching a line of storms that pushed thru that stretched from the SWB to the CH60 moving southeast, but it ****ed the ocean all up,could not even think about going south,so tried straight, yeah right that didn’t work so then headed towards the SW Banks area, this is going to take for ever(15-16 mph is all i can do)and this is the "good"direction…
the farther we get the better it gets, still can not get any speed, swells aren’t as big but just a sloppy mess, after watching us burn fuel like a sob i decide to hit the 41004 bouy, maybe we could do some repairs since it was down yesterday morning, well the bouy is still there and all the little wheels were just spinning away so why it wasn’t working i don’t know…
plan C is now in affect, drop lines and yes we got what i knew we would right away…CUDA!!! no problem at least we are trolling slowly towards the ledge(outcrop)
next a really small dolphin(but today was a kill it all day as we have pics to prove it)we pick our way thru somemore cudas, slingers etc, then i find a weed line, perfect its heading off shore and south, finally a break.still very rough and no sign of it letting up,trolling along and Jesus(aka greeng13)says something about a 9 am bite, yeah right…
all of the sudden the way back clip snaps with a BANG,and the line starts screaming off the Avet 50,madness insues,we start trying to clear lines and get ready to land this sucker, bam another hit, can’t remember if it was a long or short but its a decent fish too,we fight this fish to the boat first since he didn’t take as much line, nice bull somewhere in the 20’s,now back to the other fish,we are down to the braid backing which is over 400/500 yards of mono(congrats Mr Knotz, you braid to mono connection held) ,the angler Ritch
