Gut Wrench overniter 4/25-4/26

12 dolphin kept…

1 sword released,Captian forgot the flying gaff, fish was too strong and bigger than we wanted to stick a regular gaff in,so we made the decision for the safety of crew and fish to release.Next time we will have a flyer and a harpoon…

that is the first fish we have had that could unspool a 50 avet at will and there was nothing we could do about, but we feel fortunate we did get him to the boat.

good weather, great crew, good fishing…it was nice to be back.

Daaaaaannnnggggg! Congrats on the sword!

Please donate today to help a special child in need…

Nice Job Bob

I think I would have had to try it anyway. A pumpkin is worth it. Good job on the fish- it was a beautiful night for it. HEard of several others being caught as well. We have a short flyer we keep on the boat for just such an occasion.

If you say so... I would have tied one end of the rope around his tail and the other end around greg1's waist for a fish like that. Either way, we would be coming home either 220lbs heavier or 220lbs lighter the way I see it...

Nope…still languishing in it’s slip at Belle Isle. Decided to put a little money and elbow grease into it. Hope to fish it sometime next month.
But then, that’s what I said last month…

Big 10-4. I will be taking someone along who knows the ropes, or on someone else's boat who has done it before.

Come on Gut Wrench you lost some major guy points with this report. You caught the biggest freaking cubera snapper EVER off our coast and probably the south east. I thought you were bad a$$ after that but man…:roll_eyes: You let a once in a life time fish go cause you could not boat him?? Did you ever read the old man and the sea?? Tie a rope to him, drag him home backwards, something!!

PLEASE tell me there is more to this story!!:face_with_head_bandage:

i didn’t know i needed man points?

we were unprepared, things got left behind.period…

make sure you bring a harpoon, flying gaff, a saw,a gun would be nice too and i need a bigger fish box…

i left him out there go catch him…

Gee scouting, you remember how the Old Man and the Sea ended? Nothing but a skeleton. “Let it go Indy, let it go”

Umm, you gonna eat that?©

would the meat still be good after the 60 mile journey?

I should have been more specific. Greg1 would have been used as a float barrel (like in jaws) until the fish died. Then we would have hauled it aboard.

PM me, I will give you my phone number. Next time you hook into a fish of that magnitude call the CG, tell them to give me a call and say code phrase “Big un on”.

I will rally the cf.com militia and we will come running with firearms, gaffs, harpoons, and cases of beer. The seen will not be one for women of small children but we will bring him home!
