My boat was surging in all RPM ranges but mostly in the 3500-4500 range. Surges 5-800 RPMs. Took the VST Filter out today to clean and it looked really clean. Noticed this rubber gasket on the bottom of the pump that holds the filter has a year in it. Could this be my cause?

Not sure from the pic what that is exactly but surging is typically O2 sensor. Button up the VST tank, clean the O2 sensor, check the fuel pressure and run it. There’s a voltage check for he sensor also if it’s still not good. LP pumps should also be checked/replaced. I’m on my 4th OX66 (250) and they run good if those things are maintained. They like gas/oil though
Yeah I’ve had this boat and motor over 2 years. The ox66 has never disappointed me. I know it’s something routine. The rubber piece in the pic is the gasket on the bottom of the hp fuel pump that the VST filter locks into. I’m taking the boat to Otter to let the kids play, and will report back tonight if the cleaning of the VST helped. I will also look up 02 sensor cleaning; unless yall have a link already saved that I can look at. Thanks. Jason.

Disconnect the O2sensor wiring, unbolt the SS block it’s screwed into, put the block in a vise and unscrew the sensor. I think it’s 22 mm. Soak the part that’s inside the block in Seafoam for a couple of days. Glass bead the block if you can or soak, scrape, etc. There is a small “dogbone” tube, looks like a mini dumbell, it needs cleaning the same and has a ~ 1/8" hole through it. Buy the block gasket and reassemble. That’s way I do it. A decarb with spray seafoam helps the sensor also and you know the rings/lands are getting clean. I would replace the rubber piece you show also.
Well guys you would have never convinced me that the VST screen was dirty, but I took it out today and she ran like a top. Now my daggum trim tabs are sticking. And the pump is in a hard to get to spot. At least I know what’s next on my list of things to do. Thanks for all the advice. Charleston fishing rules.
