Had a feeling about today.

I took my friends Mark and Hoss today with the feeling that the fish were going to eat before the weather change. We ended the day with a little over 50 reds and 4 trout. Largest red of the day was 30", the largest trout today was 22" 4lbs, which also happened to be Hoss’s largest trout ever.

Real nice trout. Had a club member catch 2 trout over 19" also at IOP yesterday. A good sign.
The cooper was 43-46 yesterday. I didn’t catch any trout.

Nice job. You and your friends are brave guys. Glad the effort paid off. You sure called it right yesterday. Any thoughts about how the fish are likely to behave after the weather and cold move out? I am planning to fish on Friday. Forecast is a high of 52 with a 5 MPH west winds. As usual, all input appreciated.

That’s awesome! How were you fishing the mud minnows? I am usually resigned to using artificials and cut mullet. Always willing to try something else! Thanks

I had them free lining the MUDs. I found that the fish had two problems with the weight. 1st problem was the noise of the weight hitting the water was spooking them. 2nd problem was also with the weight, if the fish felt any resistance on the line the would not take bait. So free lining seemed to work really well

Thanks for the reply! Last question I promise…what size hook? Thanks again

Not a problem. I use 2/0 owner circle hooks

Thanks! I will try that out this weekend.

It was definitely a fun time. I have never fished with Danny and not caught fish. Usually a lot of fish. I caught 3 trout from 19 - 22". No idea how many reds. All sizes. If you want to learn how to fish inshore I definitely recommend Knot Stressed Charters. He has it dialed in and is a really good guy. Give him a call. By the way. I bring my own rods and on the very first fish, my rod snapped in two pieces. Not a good start but a heck of an ending. Now I must go cut up a tree that fell from the ice. I would rather be fishing…
