Well I finally broke down and decided to buy me a new reel. I went to Haddrell’s today and bought me a new Penn Battle. The customer service was great. They helped me pair it with a rod in the budget I was looking for. Can’t wait to put this thing to use.
Of course. I went in there years ago looking for a part for a Penn Reel . We couldn’t find it but I was invited back to “the reel room” where we dug up what I needed. Even more recently the same thing with a star drag washer. Great people.

Thanks so much for the kind words Jason and everyone else. We enjoy helping as much as we can, and always will. We feel fortunate and thankful every day to have the awesome customer base that we have, and personally I am thankful for all the great people I have been able to meet during the 12 years I have been in this industry. Far too many good local businesses around town not to support the local places IMO.
You can really tell that those guys love their jobs. Its nice to get help from someone who wants to help and is excited about the products that they sell. Good luck getting that from wally-world.
Haddrells takes good care of all that deal with them. And they treat their workers in a great way. I was in there today and had a great talk with big mike. The whole time many happy people came and went.
I will not go any where else but Haddrells West Ashley!! Scott,Dee,Micheal,Benji,Darrell are all great ppl and very helpful!! In the times where I haven’t been fishing in a while I go in and just hang out!! Def enjoy hanging out and talking with them all! But think Scott should work weds as well!!! Especially during turkey season!!! Thanks for everything you guys do!!
I love my Penn Battle reel. Always remember it means a lot to buy from our local tackle guys, the big box stores could care less about fishermen. I’m just saying…
Apparently the Mud Minnows they sell are immortal! I bought some very lively MM on Feb 1, pulled the boat from the back yard on Saturday (Feb 18th) and the ones I left in the bucket were still alive! Picked oysters for a family oyster roast and had the bucket overboard getting some fresh water. These suckers are still kicking in the bucket today (Feb 23)! I’ve also been getting my oysters from the Folly area by their recommendation, thanks guys for all you do!
