Looks like they decided to go through with the tournament. I think it should be a bunch of fun!
I was curious to see how many of yall are planning on doing it, and what yall think about the format…

Eligible Species Include: Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and Bluefish
Rules: This is a catch and release tournament only. All fish entered in tournament are to be released. Species, length, and time caught must be recorded on entry sheet provided by the tournament. No artificial power of any kind may be used, this includes electric motors. Kayaks and canoes may not be transported at any time during the tournament by powerboats. NO “MOTHERSHIPPING”! This tournament is based on a honor system, any dishonorable conduct will result in immediate disqualification by the tournament committee.
There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Winners are to be determined by total inches of fish caught and released during the tournament. In the event of a tie, the first angler to be checked in will win the tie-breaker. All fish caught on straight artificial bait will receive a 5 inch bonus added to that particular catch. All fish caught on artificial fly gear will receive a 10 inch bonus added to that particular catch. All fish are to be measured using the “pinched tail” method.
I plan to be there. 8:07 am high tide, should be perfect…
I dont know about fishing in the kayak til 4:00pm however.
Seems like a good format for kayak fishing… it is hard to take pics from a kayak so I understand the honor system. fisherman are about as honest as they come…
So who’s going out at 12:01 am?
just my 2cents…
I think that the everyone should buy a cheap (and they are cheap) disposable camera for the contest. This beats the honor system idea in my opinion. We can still have the bonuses for artificials and fly, just get them in the pic too!
Plus, the best part for Haddrell’s is that at the end of the tourney…they can have a ton of pics to put up in their shop. Such a display would definitely move some fishing kayaks and gear (HEY YOU CAN REALLY CATCH FISH LIKE THAT!!! MOM I WANT ONE!!!)
makes more sense to me,but im not fishin it.tryin to hit a campground that weekend for some surffishing.on second thought, maybe me and the son could fish this thing…
ws pamlico 100 and 14 ft canoeyak
“this plastic boat is killin my azz.”
I’m in, I don’t know about fishing for 16 straight hrs but I’ve come close to that before. Question, are we only supposed to enter one fish per species? I’ll be takin’ pics too but using my digital. Anyone hardcore enough to join me for at least 12hrs?
Thats why they call it fishing, not catching
ill do the 12 hours and im with you on the digital to i talked to dee last week while he was righting everyting up for the tourney winner is based on most points you catch 10 trout the length of all is added together to make your points in that division same with all other species when i asked dee about the honor system he looked at me and said you kayak guys seem very trustworthy and i told him of all that ive met they are very trustworthy
