Hair Jigs! The most recent tying I've done!

These are either 1/4 or 1/8 oz, primarily intended for targeting Smallmouths. All heads are powder coated and molded on bronze, 3/0 Mustad Ultra Point hooks. Except otherwise indicated, they’re tied with rabbit &, or fox fur/hair. I hope you like them!

This one is tied with bucktail.

Also tied a few simple bucktail teaser flies. All on 4/0 Eagle Claw 254 hooks.

Very nice! what do you use to dye the hair color?

Thank you sir!

Some of this material was dyed when I bought it, but when I dye it myself I use acid dyes. I buy it from Dharma Trading Co. They sell all kinds of dyeing supplies, and in the acid dyes, they have their own brand, plus sell Jacquard brand. I use both, just depends on the color.

Those look awesome! Well done, sir.

Thank you DBL N!

If you could tie some with a weed guard of some sort I might be interested in buying some. Nice work!

those are impressive

Thank you for the compliments!

I would love to try a couple of those on trout and spot tails.

Quarterpounder, I’m sure they would work. I’ve tied flies with rabbit strips & hair for them, so should work as well as a jig.

I’m away for the holidays visiting our grand kids, but would be glad to discuss it with you after I return. I mold some jig heads with heavier wire black nickel hooks, that would be better for those fish species, and the tying is the same. I can make them on jig heads with weed guards too.

I’ll send you a message when I get back!
