Hamlin Creek Work

Why are they driving piles in Hamlin Creek / Gray Bay?

Power line.

I’ve never seen pile driving for an HDD power project.

You don’t drive pile for directional drilling.

Piling supports structural loads.

After looking at the plans, I see a temporary pile supported work platform in the water. That explains it.

Did not bid on this work.

I originally didn’t think much about it until I saw the piles following the channel as you enter Gray Bay from Hamlin Creek and then onto Hamlin Sound. I have a little conspiracy theorist in me that said " Man the water front lots in the proposed Oyster Point community would be worth a lot more if they had true deep water", but… it’s just a power line. Hey look at the bright side, everyone will have channel markers through there now instead of the PVC pipe. Next thing ya know there will be nothing but Bayliners and Stingrays along the grass line.
