Hanckel Marine River, Marsh, and Beach Clean Up

Thank everyone for fishing and the support last weekend at the Fishing For Miracles Tournament. Below is an article from the Post and Courier about a Beach, Marsh, and River Clean Up Hanckel Marine is putting on this Saturday August 24th along with Wounded Nature. We would love to have the boating community here in Charleston involved. We are all guilty of a can or potato chip bag flying out of the boat and now is our chance to put the beaches, rivers, and marshes up clean so next season they are even better. This is something that me and my family are passionate about and hope you have the same love and respect for the waters here in Charleston. Please read the article Matt Winter wrote yesterday and you can go to our website for more information. Also, please RSVP if you are able to help, we would like to have an idea for food and beverages. We are fortunate to live where we do and have the resources we have to enjoy so if you are as passionate about this as we are please pass this along whether through facebook or email to all those you may think would like to help. After a little cleaning up we will have food and drink at the Island House located at Ross Marine. We look forward to seeing you there.

Cleanup Day

The Hanckel family, of Hanckel Marine, are planning a unique event this weekend designed to encourage boaters to spend some time collecting litter from marshes and beaches around the Lowcountry.

The family is launching a Beach and Marsh Cleanup Day on Aug. 24, which culminates in a party 4-8 p.m. at The Island House on Johns Island. The family, along with Ross Marine and The Island House, will be providing food, beverages and entertainment, and door prizes will be awarded for the most trash collected and largest item found.

Admission is free for anyone who brings the trash they collected from marshes and beaches during the day. Folks who can’t get out on the water but still want to attend could simply make a donation at the party to the Wounded Nature, a wounded veterans group.
