Anyone know an honest, reliable handyman that works downtown, JI, WA, and Mt. P? I manage about 35 properties and am tired of unreliable, overpriced subs. This person would need to be able to do a little bit of everything from, painting to drywall/plaster and carpentry repairs. Minor plumbing, roofing, and electrical would be a bonus but not necessary.
I’m not looking to hire a full time employee, but if they do a good job, I could provide them with a decent amount of work.

Nah. I need someone trustworthy, so a reference would help. They may be going into an occupied rental property to do a repair from time to time.
you want an experienced, reliable, trustworthy and probably insured handyman but don’t want to pay reasonable wages ?? I hope you never find him.

How did you come up with this? I saw nothing about wages in his post.

overpriced subs.
Property managers have a job. That job is to do everything as cost efficient as possible. There is a niche there. Not many people that can do that many different things are willing to do them at the rock bottom prices asked by the property management industry. Usually the person that fits this particular bill is an older gentleman retired from something else and still wants to keep busy and make a few more wanted or needed dollars. We pretty much have quit working for PM because we get a better honest wage doing higher end work for home owners. PS: Our prices are very competitive.
Umm, you gonna eat that?

I’m willing to pay a reasonable wage. Dockman, what do you think is a fair hourly rate for this type of work?
if he has to provide his own tools, truck, and workers comp/general liability insurance aroung $35 per hour if you can work him in full day increments,
if it will be 3 hrs here and 5 hours there than it needs to be more since partial days tend to cover overhead with little pocket money left.
now- if you’re going to provide all that and he just punches a clock and works as needed, and you’re going to handle payroll deductions for taxes etc, then around $15
Dear Caw…Thumbtack.com is free to you, no sign up fee or contract. The business owner pays to receive leads. Thumbtack.com verifies phone numbers and e-mails, and does a criminal background check on all service providers. I’m on there for my dog training business, and I’m adding my mosquito spraying service as well. Like most web and internet app innovations I heard about it from my son. It’s the real deal. Check it out…they’ll talk to you on the phone if you prefer it!!
