"Happy Ours"?

I have heard the Low Country Water Buffalo get pretty ornery this time of year. Must be the heat.

BIG negative on that one. Point your inaccurate blame elsewhere, thank you.

No ed was definantly spot on with that statement.

as a redneck I am offended.

SMH we’re talking about pulling a weapon on the water.

also exactly what kind of semi law enforcement is said friend? it sounds like maybe she’s admin.

the swimmers over-reacted IMO. but weapons as a solution? really. were you in that much danger?

While there’s no excuse for the swimmers to act as they did, it sounds like “the bird” was the catalyst for the escalation of this incident. I feel pretty confident that if LE would’ve shown up, both parties involved would’ve received a scolding. Trust me, I understand your frustration but if your friend wouldn’t have shot them “the bird,” they probably wouldn’t have fired up the boat and chased you. Sure, they probably would’ve continued to shout and cuss at you but as you drove past them but it wouldn’t have escalated beyond that. The one thing a drunk loud rowdy cussing redneck is looking for is a reason to be drunker louder rowdier and cuss more. Your friend’s “bird” gave them that opportunity.

As far as the “carrying weapon” aspect, if you believe this situation warranted use of a weapon or lethal force, you probably shouldn’t carry a weapon on your boat, if ever.

God bless the “ignore” function.

Can you share the picture? I would like to distribute it through the club and find out if it is a member or someone associated with a member.

I wonder why the bridge tender didn’t report them for speeding under the bridge? I’m sure he’d be a reliable witness.

Boat rage, road rage…those kinds of people are truly frightening - it seems that once they get ramped up, they’ll do some incredibly stupid stuff. Maybe you should have called 911 on them and record them on your phone. At least get their boat ID number. Those people need a good legal smack down.

As far as idle speeds…sometime when the current is pulling hard, you can’t just idle speed…you’d never get from one end to the other of the slow zone.

It sounds like they had wwwwwaaaaayyyy to much to drank. It just seems now a days it’s just way to hard to go out on the water without dealing with disrespectful people. I can’t even take my three kids to a sandbar anymore that I’ve been going to for years because of people playing music with the “F” or “N” word in every other sentence. Few people have respect when kids are around.

Thanks for the replies all.

@ PeaPod and Bangstick - while I am a CCW holder and avid shooter, I’ve never carried a weapon on the boat (and rarely in the car for that matter). I understand the implications of that, and would only pull a firearm as an absolute last chance to defend myself. That being said, I’ve never been chased on the water before - when someone is fired up enough to chase you, you don’t really know what else they’re capable of. As far as me, I was simply saying that had they pulled up beside me and pulled a gun, there really would be nothing I could do.

@ Claim - I agree that it is frightening, and I can only count one other instance in my entire life with something like that (a road rage incident in the upstate many years ago). In hindsight, yea, I should have recorded them and/or gotten their registration number. At the time though, all I could think about was separating myself from that group.

Lastly, at localdude - I don’t want to post the picture publicly, but I will private message it to you, if it will allow. It’s surely a member, or someone associated, as they were swimming at the landing and had their boat tied up to the docks. I’ll send a PM your way.

Thanks everyone - appreciate all the suggestions and laughs. Truly a great group you all have here.

There are a lot of jerks out there these days. case and point
I live on a busy road. I have to back into my driveway to hook up my boat. Last week some lady laid on the horn from 50 yards back, held the horn until I was backed in, then proceeded to roll down her window and give me the evil eye.

This is not a one time occurrence. In fact, this stuff happens weekly. People ride my bumper when I slow down to pull in my drive all the time. The near by intersection is a common place for wrecks. There was a wreck a couple years back that involved 2 ambulances. Cops blocked the road but people still rode on the shoulder to go around EMS. This is a heavy residential area. People are just too focused on themselves.

10% of the people catch 90% of the fish.

Wisertime, I got your PM, thank you.

I just wanted to say that just because people are at the ramp/docks does not mean they are members. We have had issues of entitled people using the facilities as if they were members or escorted guests.

We are going to get to the bottom of this whole deal. All the regulars down there don’t know the boat in question. I feel pretty confident that this was not a member of ECOMC…

Thanks all. Yea, at first I was certain they had to be affiliated in some way with Goldbug, but… the way they acted - maybe people just assume that’s a public launch/dock and hang out there. Never really thought about that before. I can truly believe they’d fall into the “I’ll park/dock/swim where I want” category.

There’s a dock up the creek from me, I see people on kayaks camped out all the time. It’s definitely a private dock, but I see it so much, I guess people just don’t know or don’t care. Sadly it’s the way things are headed.

I think maybe for $200 she would drop her badge and work my billy club one good time as long as the song Porn Star Dancing was jamming in the back ground!

I’m not exactly sure what you’re implying there, but it sounds unnecessary

he said he wants to bang the mallcop

Paul Blart? That’s gross!!!

Thanks again for the laughs guys. No, she isn’t a mall cop. Again, I’d rather not say what/who she is, it’s not really relevant. Being vague though, think on the level like solicitor, crime scene technician, coroner - something like that. Again, she’s “in” law enforcement, but not a uniformed officer. She seems to know them all though.

anyway… if anyone ever hears anything on my Happy Our friend, just let me know. Until then - I’ll see you all on the water this weekend!
