There is no one else in Charleston happier than my wife that summertime fishing is here! This was her first trip and first fish of the season. A 31" red is a great way to start. We didn’t catch a lot, but the quality was good. My dad was also with us and he caught a few nice ones as well. I think he was more excited that he actually caught a fish while my wife was on the boat. Usually she is the only one that catches them when we fish together! Here is the proof that my dad caught a fish. No one ever believes him! We were chunking live mullet under docks with a carolina rig, which is what we do best:) Looking forward to another great summer of fising!

I can’t get my wife to hold a rod. She loves being on the boat and just lounging but, she has no interest in catching a fish. Now crabs, she is a crab catcher (do not insert joke here). My kids say she and crabs have a lot in common (not to her face) and that is how she catches so many.
Great job on your wife’s fish, that is a hog there!
Sea: It was tagged, but we had a hard time reading the numbers. It was also a pretty good fight and didn’t want to keep her out of the water any longer than necessary!
Vin: She is a fair weather fisher! She prefers to anchor up at docks, structure, etc. and chunk bait. Casting artificials is not her idea of fun. That atleast gives me a few months to catch some fish!
DF: My wife didn’t fish for the longest time. But after she hooked her first red, she hasn’t looked back. She even lets me know when the tides look good and when we are going. I have increased my time on the water by 100% although I do more guiding than fishing! Family time on the boat is priceless!

Nice fish, you are a lucky man!
If you use your fingernail you can scrape the stuff off the tag enough to get the number. It’s good info for SCDNR research and also a free T shirt. Just for next time… I applaud your efforts to return it to the water ASAP! Great fish
Nice job Seawest. Combining fishing time and family time is a good strategy, even if half that time is spent baiting hooks, untangling lines, managing hangups, trying to avoid hooking eachother. Beats yardwork!
