Harbor 6-6-09 Waterspout

Went by Jordan’s place downtown and rousted him out of bed at 5:30 to load up for some sheepherding. Or my to learn how to do some sheepherding.

Got to the launch at about 6am

Paddled up to the ultrasecret:wink: sheephead spot. Started getting bites in just a matter of minutes after getting there. Well I think I fed the convicts about a dozen fiddlers when WHAM. HOOOO BOY hookup.
Boy was I surprised to see this. Trout caught on a fiddler:sunglasses:

Jordan decided to show me how it’s done.

We checked out a few more spots and probably fed the fish 50 fiddlers, but that was the only sheep.
We caught a few oyters taods and Jordan caught a BSB…on a fiddler.

We decided to do some exploring, so we paddled down along the docks to the Battery, got out on the sandy beach and wolfed down a sandwich.

After that we crossed the harbor to Castle Pinkney. I netted u a few menhanden and we hoped we find a trout or red along the flat or the drop off.
Dragged baits everywhere and only got cut off by a big bluefish.

The wind started picking up, whitecaps in the harbor, 2 footers rolling by every couple of seconds and boat wakes everywhere so we decided to work our way back toward the starting point even though the tide hadn’t turned.

How’s that go?
“The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed…”

We worked our way back across the harbor and started heading up river when I saw the first bolt of lightning. Needless to say, we picked up the pace a little.
We got 2 fly by

Awesome pics there for sure! Bet that made for a fast paddle home!

Private marina’s can be very generous if you ask them politely.

I just charted out rambling course on Google Earth and came up with 9 miles, plus or minus a tenth.

We had the hammer down paddling back for over 1 1/2 miles… no wonder my shoulders are burning today.

My company finally came out with a waterproof point and shoot camera. If I ever come across one of these again I will get some better shots. Hellooo employee discount
