Going against our rule of “not fishing on a holiday weekend”…we left wappoo sunday morning with plans to fish outside of the jetties. got to the Jetties and the water was already churned up so we dropped anchor inside in hopes of catching a big Red or shark…more-so me on the shark wish:smiley:…there were already 6 or 7 boats in sight… and we knew it was only going to get worse as the day went on. Saw Capt Fuss anchored not far behind us and gave a shout out in his direction. Dropped a couple lines back with carolina rigs and live mullet I caught on the way out and began the wait. Had a couple hard “bumps” reeling in only empty hooks or a mullet head staring back at us…probablly lunch for alittle shark. I dropped a line over the side with a heavy weight and was instantly rewarded with a bumpbump…and reeled on my first of 27 endangered black sea bass:wink:. Those little devils were non stop! also caught a handful of toadfish and a few junk fish. Anyone wanting to show some children or out of towners a good time…take them out to the harbor right now. Might not be a lot to keep…but certainly fun to catch.
Anchoring at the jetties and grillage can be a challenge when time to leave…and that day was no different. We saw several boats doing the round and round dance and knew getting our anchor up may be a challenge too. Didnt even try to pull it by hand…hooked the anchor ball to it and gave it a big heave ho and up she came…with a added bonus…youll have to see below:imp:…also reeled in two bottom rigs …and felt more like a salvager than a fisherwoman
…water was snotty on the run back in and we left 18 boats anchored. Saw one or two reds caught…but action wasnt too hot from what I could see. thank goodness for my BSB…fishing is fishing…and catching is a bonus
In by 0140…in line behind 11cars/trucks to pull out:frowning_face:…esp like the ones who back up on the ramp…and then load up…and the boats tied full length 0f the docks…what a mess!
I think their boat gets the
