A friend gave me one of these for Christmas and I planned on using it on my trolling motor batt, but it says, Not Recommended for Deep Cycle batteries. My question is why? 13.2 volts max is 13.2 volts. I don’t plan on trying to use it to charge. Just make sure I have a full charge when I decide to go after weeks of no use. I looked on-line, but couldn’t find any real answers. Any experts out there? I was thinking about using a timer with 6 hours on and 6 off. I do charge my deep cycle after each use.
Not sure, but my guess would be the “duty cycle” of the transformer in the charger unit. Kinda like a welding machine, some units are more heavy duty than others, some cheaper units are 20% duty cycle and some better units are 80% duty cycle. Same voltage and current levels but different methods of cooling the transformer.
