Harbor Freight trailer

I have been keeping my eye out for a trailer to use for kayak hauling but most of the ones I run across need all the normal stuff and are half rusted out. I have no problem building a trailer but I dont like buying rusted out junk.

I was looking on the Harbor Freight site and they have some little, cheap, bolt together trailers for less than what most used john boat trailers would cost. If you get one of the 20% off coupons from a magaizne, the price gets even better.

As long as you did not back it into the salt water, one of these little trailers might be good for those of you, including me, looking for a “cheap” little trailer to haul kayaks. I know they are cheap but for the money, it seems like they would be hard to beat for what it would be used for.

Just thought I would mention these for those of you out there looking for something like that.

Any of those would be cheap and really easy to set up for hauling kayaks. Just remeber, you get what you pay for.

Man you aren’t kidding. That one for $299 ain’t bad. I have a jon boat trailer I was going to convert but now you have me thinking about one of those.

I have to be really careful with my lower back and putting my boat up on top of my truck can get a little rough sometimes. So I have been looking back into a little trailer again and one of those is cheaper than most rusted out used trailers.

I know those are cheap little trailers but for the money and for what it would be used for, I think it would be just fine as long as you did not dunk it in the salt.

Should be fine with the light load a yak and your gear would amount to. I like the one that folds up, even easier to store.

For that price you can afford to replace it once a year

I sell the Malone trailers Galvanized starting at $1,000 w/out the racks ++

If it last the whole year, I have found out you get what you pay for at Harbor Freight, they might offer an extra warranty on it. I know I work at the beach and we were going to get a winch and they said it would cover salt water damage if you bought the extra warranty

From what I have been told by people that have them is the paint will come off quick which will lead to rusting with kayak drips.

What I was thinking was getting the little one that is right at $200. It would be less with a 20% coupon, and just adding a little angle to the frame to stretch the Tongue so that it would be long encough to carry the kayaks. Make a couple of racks to run across the frame for boats and I would have a very light and easy to move around little trailer that would be much easier than loading on my truck for me. All you have to do is hit it with the hose when you hose off the kayak and rods, roll it in the garage and it would be ready for next time. One thing I would not do is dip the trailer in the salt water, just get it close enough to drag the boat off.

It would be cheap and easy. So what if it gets a little rust on it. Better rust on the trailer than on the top of my truck.

I just thought I would mention these cheap little trailers because I have seen many people mention wanting to pick up a cheap used trailer to use for the kayaks. When I get a few extra bucks to spend on one, I think I may get one and set it up for the kayak. If I do, I will let yall know how it turns out and my total investment on it.
