Started off strong about 1 hour before low. Had to run back to dock so missed some fishing time. Shut off right after slack tide. Totaled about 1/3 of a cooler.
Why did you have to run back to the dock and where were you in the Harbor?

We were on the mud flats next to crab bank - Had to run back because I forgot my spotlite! hard to shrimp when you cant see the poles!
The good news is the shrimp we caught were all med to large. No small at all mixed in.
My brother and I are the ones that watched your poles while you ran to get your light. I thought that might have been you. At first we did alright but then the dolphins showed up and I think our bait went missing. So we rebaited and bam back on especially when the water dropped some. We stuck around until we got almost half a cooler of them but it was getting late and we had enough to do us for a while. Great size… makes me wonder if we’ll ever go opening night again or just wait till later in the season. Nice getting to meet you.
It was nice meeting you as well… We had rebated right at slack tide, but made a poor choice and baited the wrong side of the poles… Just between the way the water was running etc. was making it more difficult than it was worth with the quantity we were getting per throw.
Thanks again for keeping an eye on my poles for me!
I think we baited in the wrong spot before slack tide haha. Impossible to hit with the way the tide was going! I promise we didn’t take any free throws on your poles haha.
I could care less, but it is illegal to leave your poles. If you have to run back to the landing you must have your poles with you. My friend got a ticket this year.

Is it? I did not know that. Oh well live and learn right? Thanks for letting me know!
You have to be within sight of your poles at all times by the rules.
I saw a post a while back about baiting between the poles. Well I saw a boat Sat. past that did just that. You also get 11 baits that way!! It really works great and when the tide turns you just go to the other side. I thought about it and re-baited a hr before low on same side - ended up being a mistake like RY & DO mentioned. This other boat got there after we did and still got about the same amount of shrimp. They just putted in a straight line basically - no looping or circling back. This is really great out in deeper water and especially if you are setup perpendicular to the tide. I will try it next time I go.

Yes it’s ligit and they can fine you again if you are in possession of shrimp if you have bait on the boat. W/ out your pole/poles
