It was a beautiful night and great to have Greg on board who pancakes net every throw and Scott driving the trolling motor. Last time I was out was last Monday, not nearly as productive last week. They turned on at 740 and we left them on the poles, w/ 20+ a cast at 9:40.
Mixed, about 1/2 large and rest medium and smalls.
Nice
Way to go, doclevin!! Crab Banks?
That’s the way it’s done !

Nice!!!
Hey Doc i think we were the ‘head boat’ set up down current of you. We were wondering how many trolling motors it would take to maneuver my Cat effectively! Regardless we stopped just shy of the cooler with some very nice sized shrimps…which does make me wonder Skinneej, why buy and pimp a new boat just for shrimping? Did you sell your Glacier Bay?

Yep that was us. I’ve had my SeaPro for over 10 years. never had a GB, don’t do much off shore at all. I was pretty impressed how you handled that Cat for shrimping. Glad you guys die well too. I love being able to use the Trolling motor shrimping, doesn’t wash the bait, pretty easy to position for the poles , saves gas and can hear my Buffett on the speakers better than running on the motor. After last week when Flipper got most of the shrimp, was fun to be catching them last night like we did.

quote:Negative ghostrider... I still have the GB. But as you know, the options are limited inshore with a bigger boat. My father-in-law wanted to go in 50/50 on a little boat for the shrimping, so I wasn't about to pass it up! Plus, we will now be able to get into skinnier water... Also, I don't have a trailer for the big boat, and want to travel a bit with the little one... Going to be great for the keys next year, etc.

That being said, my wifey is having a baby 3rd week in October, so fishing days will be numbered… And then, there is spearfishing…

Doc, yes the GB can be challenging to run poles with and I’m pretty sure I have prop washed bait all over creation. Some nights I just anchor up and one pole which had been the plan for monday but the conditions were too nice to pass up. The best part about it is I can bring 4-5 folks, everybody gets to throw (some better than others!) and the shrimp are mostly headed by the time I get back to the dock! Heres hoping the rest of the season goes well.
Skinneej, good luck with the new ride, new sport and new Skinneej Jr! And it sounds like Mrs Peapod might be available to baby sit some so you can get out on the water more!

Rain will definitely slow things down
