Launched out at Pitt St yesterday for a little sharkin’. Didn’t get out there as early as I wanted due to things just not going as I planned but was on the water by 1045. Bait washard to come by with the water being so high but managed a sand perch and a ballyhoo in the cast net. Paddled out of the cove and anchored out half way between thecove and the grillage in about 15ft of water chunked out a piece of bluefish that I caught on some of the ballyhoo and then got some bait out for whatever would fit in the cooler. No sooner than I did that the big rod took off and it was shark on. Caught a 3ish ft sharpnose and had a nice whiting waiting for me on the other rod. Got the sharpie released and set back up. Few minutes later the rod goes off again. Another sharpie but this on decided to get tangled up in my anchor line and made for some interesting dehooking. Got that one released and set up again. Then hooked what felt like a big blacktip that took off on a screaming run, but just after I released from the anchor the hook pulled. After that the sharks pretty much disappeared for the rest of the day. Had a couple of pick ups and hooked rayzilla that spit the hook right as it surfaced which didn’t bother me any. The whiting were out in full force also. I kept 9 good sized ones that all went about 1ft or so and had 5 that squirted out of my hand while trying to get to the cooler. I fixed that though when I remembered that I had my lip grabbers in my bag. I headed for the hill around 1545 and that current coming out of the cove was a beast but managable. All in all it was a good day.
Where is the Pitt St. launch? Hoping to come down in a week or so and go out with my son. Was thinking about putting in on the backside of Sullivans but always looking for other launch sites.

If you look on the map at the mouth of the harbor you will see an old broken bridgeat the end of pitt st.that has been redone and turned into a pier. The launch is set up righr where you have to park for the pier. Be forewarned though when you get into the icw the current is really moving when the tide is going out. And be careful if you anchor up. The way I was setup at the time I was broadside to the current and it was dicey at times.
Okay, I know where that is. Thanks for the info.
