Harbor Reds

They are moving around a bit depending on the tide but seem to be preferring a single finger mullet like a Home Team chicken wing right now over cut bait or crab…catching them the past couple of weeks…enjoy !https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J3BK8Kbcys&t=72s

Please use heavy gear if yo are going after these guys as you will see i was easily abble revive it…they will buck out of your hand. i use 65 braid-80lb suffix leader- 7 circle on a carolina rig with a 3ft lead on a 4oz
Hadrells has it all

No need to go solo! Nice fish!

Fishing near the grillage?

SCDNR recommended rig to minimize gut hooking; even if using a circle hook.

Also minimize time out of the water or keep in the water.

Nice fish! FYI- you might not want to grab them by the gills like that. That’s about as good for them as you getting lifted up and tossed around by the nuts.

Definitely enjoy fishing for the bulls. Several people have posted great information regarding targeting these fish. And ReelEZ, that’s quite the comparison haha. But I agree, I can’t see how picking the fish up from it’s gill doesn’t somehow cause injury. I would suggest either getting a set of boga grips or a quality net and use that to land them. Either way, fish on and maybe I’ll see you out there! Thanks for the report.

Appreciate the conservation input - well taken…I do need a bigger net. Went on another bote the other day and did net them… not sure about a boga tho

I have both a set of boga grips and a large net. Typically I use the boga grips but am trying to get into the idea of using the net. The net that I have was a wedding gift and is quite large so when that thing is dipped into the current, it about takes me overboard. But it is the nicest net you can buy currently. The net is definitely the more gentle way to land the fish but if you have good technique, boga grips work well.
