Does not make a lot of difference IMO. The moon has the biggest impact. We plan all our trips on or close to new and full moons. Shrimp seem to run better with good moving tides - a weak tide half way between usually have less numbers and tend to cut off all of a sudden.

I think about a half moon is best. I’ve always had the problem of the net rolling up on a strong running tide. Also, I’ve always done best 2hrs before to 2hrs after low at night. Have raked them in in the day, but in general not as good. As far as a log goes…I’ll do the same thing every time, in the same place, with all conditions basically the same and one time I’ll cooler out in 1 1/2 hrs, the next, make 15 passes for 1/4 cooler. Of course I’m getting too (**() old for those 15 pass trips now. I’ll pull poles and head for the hill first. Just my 2 cents worth…been doing it for 30yrs+.
