I’m looking for an area (not someone’s spot) that has some.hard bottom flats. Every flat i fish i have to throw my pin anchor and it sinks 7 or 8 feet. I’ve tried to find maps describing the topography of the local waterways, but no luck. Help and suggestions would be very appreciated.
Jamie, One way is to ride in your car at low tide to learn which grass means hard bottom…probably. Bob

Look for short grass. The taller the grass, the softer and deeper the mud. Short grass = hard bottom. Usually.

Anything specific to look for? I’ve gotten out of the boat and walked creeks at low tide. I bring old tennis shoes and walk oyster beds. I know thats probably not the safest thing to do but i love walking and being out in the environment.
