I was pulling the boat out of the water today and on the way to the landing I clicked on the radio to listen to coast guard chatter and they warned of a vessel hard grounded on south jetty and to be careful traveling in that area.
I am curious about this, I heard a boat had a hard grounding… then a second boat(recovery boat) hit something and knocked a hole in their hull as well!?!
Yeah that apparently happened just before we left through the jetties Saturday night/Sunday Morning. We did hear coast guard radio chatter about something in the harbor but didn’t see the boat until we came back in on Sunday afternoon. The boat looked like a pilot boat and it was high and dry on the rocks sitting upright. DNR told us it was a Navy boat when they stopped us to check out catch. I hope everyone recovers well from that accident.
On sat there was a coast guard alert of a partially submerged log seen in the harbor and to notify uscg if spotted. Stonoman reported he hit something on sat in the inshore reports section. It messed up his motor.
On Wednesday there was coast guard alert of a partially submerged boat 57 nm east of Charleston harbor.
