I took my 17ft scout out yesterday with the new to me 90 Johnson 4stroke. When the engine is trimed all the way down it pulls very hard to the right as soon as I let go of the steering wheel at speeds around 20-30mph. If I trim the motor up some it stops. Any Ideas? Skeg does not appear to be bent.
Is your trim tab adjusted properly? Motor height correct (not that I know how high it should be).

do you have a hydrofoil on the motor?

No hydrofoil and I think the motor height is good. Hankel mounted it for me and they should be very familiar with this boat and the cavitation plate is right at the surface when on plane.
Call Milo! He will fix it!
Had a 140 Suzuki that acted the same. Adjusting the trim tab took some of the pull out, but not all. I found it easier to just trim up as it came on plane … ![]()
Torque! You won’t get all of it out, by just trimming the motor. Put some trim tabs on it. Might help, to change pitch on the prop! I’m sure Milo has a few different props laying around you can try.
