def. spot tail, trout, but flounder is the fun-est

I have thought about this and have caught many of all three fish and have come to this conclusion: It is very relative to the specifics of the catch. I caught an 18 inch trout last wed that was stripping drag like a red. Three very experienced fishermen on board (Dad and my brother and I) all thought it was a red until we saw him. Sunday i caught a 14.5 inch flounder that i thought was an oyster until i got him almost to the boat and he started wiggling. Last tuesday i caught a 20+ inch(did not measure) flounder that fought really really hard but not like a red. Kind of like a sheep head crossed with a ray. Current plays a big role in how strong a fish feels on the end of the rod. I think trout fight ALMOST as hard as a red fish pound for pound but do not have near the stamina as the red fish. They fight really hard for a little while but get worn out quick. Red fish are, in my opinion, the strongest but the fight depends on much more. A door mat flounder in a good bit of current will be a helluva pull on the old fishin pole. I love catching all of them.

12" smallmouth

of the three, from my limited experience…18" red. But if you include bluefish, then there’s no comparison. 18" blue by far!

I’d go red if you are talking 18" across the board. But I’ve never experienced a same species fish fight different than a dink from a gator trout. 22" is my big and it was like another species.

flounder will only fight as hard as you make them. Up north on the head boats we told the clients to reel them in slooow. When they start fighting, you have a better chance of lthem spitting the hook.

Ladyfish…[:0]

Gotta agree with Pen and Scott.Ladyfish and bones fight as hard pound for pound as anything I’ve caught.Just imagine catching a 20# ladyfish…

redfish hands down, even though a 18 inch bonnethead will head to deep water a lot faster than anything I’ve caught inshore

18" spadefish tops them all
