I sent my daughter, Morgan, and her boyfriend, Tyler, on a guided trip on Hartwell, with Buster Green. Left dock at Portman Marina at 8:00 p.m. Back at dock, with a nice limit of Stripers and Hybrids, at 1:00 a.m. Live Herring on bottom in 100’. Morgan said it was her best birthday ever!!
Glad Buster is still doing well. I heard he had some health issues recently and was worried he may not be still taking people out. Nobody knows Hartwell like him. Back before bait shops started selling herring we had to go out at night catching it ourselves. There were several places we would catch it off the bank, like off the fishing pier below Russell dam. Buster and a lot of the other guides would be down there too and he could really tell some stories. I definately don’t miss catching bait all night but as a 10 to12 year old I idolized those guides and really miss interacting with them.
You are motivating me, I may have to book a trip with Buster just to catch up and relive those days.
A trip with Buster is worth the money just to hear him tell the tales. If you’ve fished with him you know he always has a piece of a Swisher Sweet cigar in his mouth. Well, after a couple of hours fishing, Morgan asks him if he needed a light for his cigar. He responded that he hadn’t lit one in years. She asked why, and he replied that he didn’t care for the 100 mile per hour ambulance rides… If you hook up with him, tell him Scott said hello.
