Went out bass fishing last week on the main lake. Caught about 30 bass the biggest being around 4 lbs. Started off catching them on a crankbait near rocky points. After that we caught most of them around docks. They were schooling pretty good. Also caught the biggest white perch I have ever seen. On the way in we saw a bunch of seagulls ran over and came upon a huge school of stripers. One cast and it was on. Got him into the boat. approx 20 lbs. I also threw in a picture of another striper and another 6lb bass I caught about a month back by 18 mile on Hartwell.
Nice mess of fish. Did you get a picture of the perch? If it was pretty big it may have been a white bass. Other than the body shape they’re similar.
I’d rather fish than eat.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
In God We Trust
its the one on its side in this picture im almost positive it’s a white perch but you can let me know
I think it is a white perch! We caught some huge whites on Gwood this winter on alabama rigs. Caught the biggest yellow perch (Eisenhour) Ive ever seen last week on Clark Hill with cut bait, about 14" over a #. Glad to see you are catching stripers on Hartwell, All we seam to catch is spotted bass!
haha I catch plenty of spotted bass as well. Whenever we are out about an hour before sunset we go and look for the schools of stripers and they have been schooling real well this year
Nice report. Thats a really nice striper for Hartwell. You been seeing some decent schooling in the evenings huh? I was out one morning last week and we caught a couple early and saw some scattered boils but no schools to run to. I thought it might be worth trying in the evenings, though I usually don’t start doing that until May. But hey lots of things are happening early this year.
They have been schooling real good in the evenings since early march from main lake to twin lakes
