Hartwell

Thinking about heading up to Hartwell and need a little 411 on schooling stripers. Throwing spooks and flies. Just a gentle point in the right direction if anybody up that way is reading.

Thanks

I will see what I can find out for you, have not been on the water in a WHILE due to work and turkey hunted last two weekends.

More than likely will hit the water Friday, one of my buddies is wanting to head WAY up Tugaloo, we have a spot up there that is good early May.

Not sure how the schooling is but lot of fish being caught on freelines and cut bait on bottom

Good luck with the striperQUEEN web site, I do visit there but sometimes hard to get much info(they think they are all professional TX guys and get a hard on for anything Warren Turner says or does, not all just most of them)

Bob Williams comes on here a good bit and fishes Hartwell more than I do so check with him he will shoot straight with you on where he is finding fish.

If I do get to go Fri I will post results Friday evening but not sure at this point if I will make it or not due to work

I went way up 12 mi river Friday night in my 14’ john boat. Some guys caught some in the 30 lb. range last week near the Cateechee dam from the bank. It got dark before I made that far but I stopped just around a sharp bend in the river and put out live bait in 8’ of water. 1 rod bent down to the water and I brought a striper up to the boat but then it went under the boat. When I tried to get it back to the top the line rubbed the corner of the hull and the braid was cut by a burr in the aluminum. The boat will be deburred before I take it back out and I will take a landing net. The fish was between 10 & 15 lbs. Two more after that were small.
Tommy, I’m going to have to learn to wear the bigger fish down instead of trying to haul them in so quick.

I’d rather fish than eat.
