Hatch Pattern in Walhalla area/Chattooga River

Anybody up on the current hatch pattern for that area right now? I have a couple of buddies heading up there next weekend I they want me to help setup their rigs for a couple of days of fly fishing. I have attached a link to the website showing the Loop Trail that they’re going to hike and fish to show exactly where I’m talking about.

I’m most likely going to set them up on tandem nymphs with split shot depending on the speed of the current they’re in with strike indicator…
I was thinking 5x 7.5’ leader with 6x 2.5’ tippet…
It should be mostly smaller trout in there and no leaves in the water at this point so stealth should be pretty important.
any other suggestions and if you have some pics of fly suggestions that would be great…

BigDaddy,

Small, Small nymphs. Fished REALLY slow. It has been in the low teens for the last 5 days, nothing much moving on the River right now. Best bet for that area would be the deeper pools of the East Fork just below the hatchery, down to the main river. Might try to call Hunter Banks in Asheville @(828)252-2005, or Davidson River Outfitters @ (828) 877-4181 for some delayed harvest area suggestions/reports. I’ve had some good days on the Tuck and on the Green when the weather is cold like this… That being said, if temps get warmed up in the afternoon, even mid 40’s, the bite can improve rapidly.
