Have been lax in posting

I have been busy, but still I have been able to find time to fish. I have however done a poor job of posting so here is a couple of pictures.

Last Thursday I was able to get on a flat for an hour over my lunch break. As you can see by the pictures the water was very clear. I managed to stick and land 2 while the 3rd broke me off. That is what you get for not checking your tippet, particularly when that 2nd fish really took me on a run through the grass.

He was a nice 23 inch fish.

Fish 2

22 inch red.

Here are pictures of the fly:

Caught one more on Sunday and broke off another:

Always very informative and entertaining. Real nice pictures of the fish and that fly. Thanks.

Wish I would have had the time to fish today…did stop for about 2 minutes at a flat near where I work and counted 3 tailing fish in about 90 seconds.

That’s a great looking fly and fish! Not bad for one hour of fishing after lunch! Did you tie the fly yourself?

Neat post and pics. Thanks for sharing. Very enjoyable.

Hey John…how bout some video? Get any with these pics? I’m assuming these pics were taken with your chest cam?

I did tie the fly myself. The eyes are eyes that I made with some of my wife’s seed beeds, some mono, a lighter, and some epoxy. Rich I did not get any video…the pictures just came out of a regular camera.

John, that is a B E A U T I F U L tie. Lots of effort, and it looks like you spend some time at the vice. I was wondering why you use wire instead of mono, as your weed-guard? I’ve always used mono, and am always looking to improve my ties.

Really like the fly. What did you use for the body? EP fibers?

I used EP fibers for the body, and I have used mono, but find that titaniam wire for the week guard just works better for me. It seems to last longer, and do a better job of keeping the weeds off of the hook. I use .0196 titanium wire. I make a small bend and bend it back on itself (maybe about 3/16 of an inch to make it so that it will not rotate, then bend it there and tie it in place.
