Thanks for the endorsement Jeff! Looking forward to another good year.

Currently at 22 boats and 65 troops. Come on folks, let’s get that number bumped up to about 30-35 boats.

I signed up today for my third year supporting this event.

I’m not exactly a seasoned offshore fisherman. I’ve only been running my own boat offshore for a year here. Had some successes, but not very consistent. I have a 2002 Sailfish 236. The boat can comfortably fish about 4-5 people. I’ve got 4 trolling setups that I run, but only 3 bottom fishing ones. If someone experienced is willing to go out and help out, and bring a couple more bottom fishing setups, I’m game. PM me if you’re willing and I’ll sign my boat up.

Rick, I could loan some bottom setups if needed. I can’t mate though, I’ll be on the hill checking people in and out. Also, no need to be a pro. And don’t feel like you have to take them offshore either. We actually suggest fishing inshore if people are in inshore capable boats. Jetties, bull reds, etc. You never know what kind of experience level you’re going to get. These folks are from every corner of the country.

This event is all about taking time out of our schedules to actually show these service members that we appreciate what they do for us day in and day out. Putting them on a fish or two is just a bonus.

Hi Andy,

I have spent even less time inshore fishing than offshore! But I’m willing to give it a shot. Who knows what the weather will be like that day. May not be able to head out beyond the jetties anyways. Just getting out on the boat and wetting some lines is a good time no matter where it’s done. I’ll go ahead and sign-up tomorrow. If anyone with experience is willing to help me out on the boat, let me know.

Sounds good! Glad you’re going to join us! I’ll have all my stuff with me Friday night at the captains meeting. If you need to borrow rods I can hand them over on Friday night.

Fingers crossed on weather! On the up side for weather, it can’t be much worse than any of the past years!

This is an excellent event, I participated every year here so far but one. You don’t need to be a pro to take these guys and girls out, you just need to be willing to take them. They really appreciate it, some of them have never been on the salt water. To see that we the citizens of this country are grateful enough for their sacrifice to do something like this in return for them goes a long way. Oh, and there’s a good dinner and music that evening at the marina! I’ll see you guys there at the Capt’s meeting!!

Rob

'bout time

You guys don’t have to fish offshore to participate either, we’ll probably be fishing the MAD event inshore on my boat…
