haven't seen this before

Was in the ICW on Sat late afternoon between Goat Isl and IOP. There was bait everywhere popping. I had never seen so much bait activity. Assumed it was menhaden but was surprised after the first net throw to have about 25 finger mullet. They were everywhere and thick. Every throw got FM, not a single menhaden. I’m assuming this is the start of the annual mullet run south which is really popular in FL and while I’ve seen it right off the beach here, never inshore.

Around here,it is not uncommon to catch finger mullet anywhere in saltwater from spring until fall.

Yeh, obviously…but I’ve never seen them this thick in the icw. They were everywhere, not just random little schools swimming around.
