I think???
I watched a big adult mantis like that sit on our hummingbird feeder - waited on a hummingbird to feed - caught the first one that came to feed - chewed the bird’s head off and preceeded to eat the body.
If Preying Mantis weighed 5 lbs they’d take over the planet - wicked hunters but I like’m.

It’s amazing you said that. That’s exactly where this one was sitting before I moved him to this spot. I had no idea they could eat something that big!

I had to see it to believe it.
The mantis was lightening fast and dispatched the hummingbird in seconds. The wife had a fit…

No doubt he would eat the pretty lady, but, to dispatch a humming bird!!! - that would be awesome to see. All our humming birds hit the road, after the cold snap, I think.
if it was big enough to catch a hummingbird it was probably a female not a male. the females are the large ones and they normally kill the males after breeding. regardless of male female. great pic!
Wow, I didn’t know they could do that but apparently they can!
That is absolutely wild. Cool pictures and video
Amazing picture indeed!
