Headed to da ville, I think..

Been a while,(3yrs) but reserved a Ride135 for Sun. & plan on heading there about 5am sun. with, mud minnows, & anything else I can catch in cast net. Low tide is around 7:40am. Never been there, hopin there will still be enough water without dragin too far? I guess I’ll prob. just set-up on a some creek mouths & see what happens? I’ll put together a new milk crate, etc. this week, can’t wait.Prob fish til tide says I have to come back…anyone know how far of a drag it is if tide is out when i come in, ( is it worth it to stay if I’m still Catchin?) Apprec. any input or warnings. thanks

from the landing to the island where the watwer wil be is about 600ft. The creek has a good hard sandy channel all the way out so walking out isn;t bad, the end gets pretty pluffy though, go left and get to the island and walk out in front of it, better bottom. Paddle out and the first creek on the left is good as you paddle out further you’ll see plenty of “fishy” mouths and spots to fish. When the tide comes up follow it in and fish the edge of the grass…

The drag isn’t too bad. Like nj said about 200 yds. I havent looked at the tide table, but in the past month I’ve had to drag 2 hrs either side of dead low a couple of times.

Last couple of trips I haven’t been able to put together 2 fish in the same place. Hot water right now, so lots of crabs, stingrays and small sharks to keep ripping through baits on the bottom and under a popping cork.

Don’t let your guard down and just lay a rod down in your cockpit or it may take flight.

BAssN76,
You may want to explore Paradise Landing for early morning and hit the the ville a few hours later. They are only a couple of mile apart and would give you more fishing, less yak dragging, based on the tide forecast. Just another option and I’m sure a bunch of others can give you details of fishing on the Wando.

Had a great day in the Yak. Ended up getting the Ult.12, def. go with the Ult.14 next time. Got spooled once(1st time completely spooled),1 break-off, 1 huge ray, about dozen of those pesky sharks, one short flounder, nice trout(2eat), and 2 of the better Reds I’ve ever caught… thanks for the suggestions… I’ll be back in a yak soon…
