Anywhere I should go while I’m there? I see a place called Fathom Offshore that looks pretty cool, the Lee’s Tackl store is there too. Anywhere else?

Thanks for the replies…
For anyone else who cares, seems Wilmington is dialed in as an offshore community. It kind of has a small Savannah vibe as a town but with rows of sportfishers sitting in every creek.
Fathom offshore looks great on the web, doesn’t have a retail store, just a warehouse/office here in Wilmington. They have a presence in a few shops around town.
Island tackle out in Carolina beach is a great true value witn a huge tackle/apparel section. They are really friendly too. My 2 year old ended up with his first rod out of there, a Buzz Lightyear rod that came with a little green rubber “plug” that he throws across the room and reels up. He wouldn’t sleep without it last night…
…and when I went to Intracoastal Angler today, he really thought I needed a blue fish like his green fish, so I snagged a little skirt and some swivels and made them interchangable. He dug it. The guys at intracoastal were all great guys and very quick to make you feel like a local.
Tex’s Tackle shop is a good one too, everyone in there seemed helpful too, honestly except maybe Tex. He seemed a bit loud and rubbed me the wrong way, though I never spoke to him directly. Just kind of loud and cranky talking to others. The two kids in there though were good guys.
Lastly, I’d have to say the West Marine was the best I’ve been in. They even seemed like local tackle shop kind of folks, not the typical “I just work here” kind of feeling you get in some of the others, excluding Beaufort.
Best food I ate was the grilled chicken sandwich in Daves Deli across from West Marine. Everywhere else was just run of the mill.

Appreciate that breakdown. I will have to check out the tackle shops next time I’m up that way.
Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

I’m sure I’m late but add Trader Joe’s to the list next trip.
Wrightsville beach is an awesome place. Usually go up there once a year to go offshore. Always have a good time
Can’t remember the name of the place but there was an awesome little seafood place that my dad and I went to. Good times
