My Hobie sales rep called the other day and wanted to get out and do some fishing, but the catchwas I had to paddle/peddle a Hobie boat. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to give up my baby for the day, but figured I would give it a try. Let me start out by sayin, I LOVE THE HOBIE MIRAGE SYSTEM!</font id=“size3”>
The tide wasn’t what I ideally wanted in the afternoon, so I decided to try something new that I have been thinking about for a while; Sheepshead fishing. We went to Haddrells to get some bait, but they were out of fiddlers. We were bummed at first, but then the clerk pointed out the obvious to me when he said, “Uh, you know the marsh is full of them, right?” Good point! Got some shrimp anyway, and then off to Remley’s Point. We stopped along the way, and you know what, the marsh was full of fiddlers! Filled up a large cup full, and took the boats to the water. Loaded up, split up fiddlers, and headed to the super secret sheepshead spot across the harbor. Again, the Mirage system was perfest for cutting across some pretty bad current, wind, and waves while i rigged my rods and drank a cold beverage.
There was a bit of a mutiny en route, when Michael’s fiddlers made a jail break from their cup and abandoned ship via the scupper hole. Oh well, still had some in my boat.
We got set up at our super secret spot and started chumming and scraping. Tide was coming in by now, and with my tire iron, it got a bit difficult to bust up oysters. No problem, I have a solution for next time. Anyway, the bite was slow, but it was there.

My High light of the afternoon came on these two Black Drum, which were a first for me!
