Are there any mechanics on here?..or people that a can tune a carb on a 25 hp mercury? I had some carb troubles yesterday…took apart, cleaned, put back together and now engine is running strong again. However, I cannot seem to get the (**() thing tuned right, either it’s too rich or too lean…cant get any top end out of it due to this. I have some trips planned for tomorrow and tuesday and need help. I realize it’s Sunday and I can’t get a hold of a mechanic. I will pay you for you time…thanks. Please email me a jblakesaxon@gmail.com, they come to my phone so I will get them asap.
with the engine in the water at idle speed, and up to temp, turn the idle mixture screw in till it sneezes, you’ll know what I’m talking about when it does. Then turn it about 1/2 turn back out, that should be pretty close. You may go a little bit more pout, if it takes more than three tunes out, you may need to go back thru the carb
dont think being out of “tune” would have anything to do with the top end issue
top end is jetted and timing.
oops, missed the comment about top end, either your carb isn’t clean or you have other issues
